The Niger State Command of Nigerian Police has arrested a total of 104 suspects for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, homicide, rape and unlawful possession of firearms.
Briefing newsmen at the police headquarters in Minna , the command Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, DSP Bala Elkana, disclosed that it has also recovered 672 cattle.
Elkana noted that the command further recovered exhibits which included three AK47 rifles with 334 rounds of live ammunition, one SMG rifle with 6 rounds of live ammunition.
Others included 12 single barrel guns, 4 locally made pistols, one revolver pistol while he explained that most of the arms were recovered around Babana border intercepted from Benin republic.
He stated that the achievement was through a collaboration efforts of the IGP tactical unit and Federal SAS.
Elkana further stated that the air surveillance had impacted a lot in achieving the results whilst include identifying of illegal mining locations in the state at around Gwada – Sarkin Pawa axis and Soka Kahuta in Minna metropolis.
