Police Nab Suspected Robbers, Others In Jigawa

The police in Jigawa State have arrested suspected armed robbers and motorcycle thieves allegedly terrorising the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, Jigawa State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Isah disclosed this via a statement.

Isah said the suspects were arrested in different operations carried out by the police and other sister security agencies.

The statement disclosed: “Police in Garki local government received report that on 05/12/2023 at about 0100hrs, a group of hoodlums numbering about eight, armed with dangerous weapons entered a house and robbed a person of the sum of one million five hundred thousand naira (₦1,500,000.00k), and also forced him to take them to his mother’s house where they collected the sum of five hundred and thirty thousand naira (₦530,000.00k) and two motorcycles.”

The police stated that on receiving the report, detectives attached to the Garki Division swung into action and arrested five suspects, recovering the money and stolen motocycles.

The arrested suspects include Abdullahi Umar, Murtala Adamu, Najari Sha’ain’t, Dalaha Bashir and Nasiru Mayau.

“Two fabricated firearms, two motorcycles, one Infinix Android, and the sum of three hundred and three (₦303,000.00k) were recovered in their houses,” the statement added.

Isah said on interrogation, the suspects confessed to committing the offence.

He said all the suspects arrested will be arraigned in court for prosecution after investigation.
