Chairman, Miyetti-Allah Association, Zone Three Kaduna State, Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, has called on the state government to preserve cattle routes as part of measures to prevent clashes between farmers and nomads.
The chairman made the call while fielding questions from journalists on Wednesday in Kafanchan.
Albarka said the call was necessary due to the setting-in of cropping season that is always characterized by clashes between farmers and grazers.
He said his Association was also working closely with government to stem the menace of cattle rustling and activities of armed bandits, especially from neighbouring countries.
The chairman revealed that the Association was consulting with government to look at the possibility of establishing a local government to serve as a rallying point for all manner of people aside from revenue generation.
He enjoined herdsmen, especially Fulani, to support government in the maintenance of peace and security for the free flow of legitimate activities.
Similarly, the care taker chairman, Miyetti-Allah Association Jema’a Local Government, Babangida Magauri, applauded government initiative of establishing grazing reserve across the country, which he said was no small way to minimize frequent clashes between herdsmen and farmers.
