The Bayelsa Police Command has reiterated its earlier order that all rallies and processions remain banned in Bayelsa State following last Saturday’s inconclusive gubernatorial elections.
In a statement by DIG Hashimu S. Argungu of the Department of Training and Development
Dig Election, Bayelsa State, the Police said: The Bayelsa state police command wishes to inform the general public that all form of procession, rallies or demonstrations are hereby banned.
“Information at our disposal revealed that some disgruntled elements are planning to carry out illegal demonstrations, procession and rallies. This form of conduct will jeopardize the ongoing electoral process. Therefore, the command warns the intending perpetrators to desist from such acts as it will deal decisively with any person or group of person who wishes to engage in any conduct that will compromise the exiting peaceful atmosphere.
“Member of the public are advice to go about their normal business, as security agencies are poised to guarantee the safety of lives and properties.
