Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima has given his assurances to work with the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) towards speedy reconstruction of parts of the state destroyed by insurgents.
The governor spoke at a special dinner for the conferment of fellowship on NSE members at the Banquet Hall, NAF Conference Center Abuja.
Shettima said the notable contributions of engineers in different areas in the country for over the years has not gone unnoticed.
Represented by the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa, Shettima congratulate the 20 engineers that were conferred with the fellowship of the NSE, including Engineer Mohammed Kabir Wanori, who is from Borno State.
Shettima said: ” We are proud of Nigerian engineers, particularly our son from Borno Engineer Mohammed Kabir Wanori, the only engineer representing the whole of North East at this great occasion.
“This achievement is timely considering the situation our dear state found itself as a result of the Boko Haram activities. “I will like to assure you of our maximum support and that of President Muhammad Buhari-led Federal Government towards rebuilding Borno and all other states affected by Boko Haram.”
Also at the event, the Senator representing Northern Borno Senatorial District, Abubakar Kyari, challenge other professionals particular from Borno State to emulate the celebrant Engineer Mohammed Kabir Wanori.
He said “Mohammad Kabir Wanori makes us proud, his success today is as a result of his commitment and hardship.
In his special presentation theme” charter for the Nigerian society of Engineers and the engineering profession in Nigeria, a professor of engineering, Otis Oliver Irtwange, called on the celebrants the live up to expectation and charged them to be great ambassadors of the NSE.
Some of the celebrants who spoke with The Dream Daily at the event Nngineer Mrs Martha Lediju, Engineer James Amiang and Engineer Mohammed Kabir Wanori, pledged to works towards developing Nigeria, especially to help the North East come out of its developmental plight as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.
