Six Die In Tanker Explosion, Mob Cuts Thief’s Hand

Six persons were feared dead when a petrol tanker hit a stationary truck along Calabar Itu highway at about 8.30pm on Wednesday this week.
Five of the fire victims who were watching the truck under repairs were burnt beyond recognition, while the six person identified as a tricycle driver and was rush to the hospital died few hour later.

Eyewitnesses told reporters that the incident occurred when the tanker driver who was driving with speed in order to beat the security chair hit the stationary truck few meters away from the security check point.
They alleged that the driver might have feared contravention because he was driving with one functional headlight.
Meanwhile, the truck driver whose vehicle was affected by the inferno has appeal for financial assistant from the government and philanthropic organization to enable him repay the loan he got from the bank to purchase the truck.
In another development, an angry mob, chopped off the arm of a young man suspected to have stolen a flat TV set at Ibiam Street in Uyo metropolis.
According to residents, there have been rampant cases of flat screen television theft almost on daily bases.
“The saying that every day is for the thief and one for the owner of the house came to play on that fateful night when a member of robbery gang was caught while others escape. So he has to suffer the jungle justice meted to him to serve has deterrent to others,” a resident told The Dream Daily on condition of anonymity.
Still in that excruciating pains he was handed over to the police.
The police confirmed the development, saying the suspect would help them in their investigation.
