Following his victory at the Supreme Court, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has called on opposition parties to join hands with him to develope the state.

“‘We have no state other than Sokoto. It is our collective responsibility to make Sokoto better. Hence I am calling on all oppositions party members to accept the verdict as Allah’s decision,” Aliyu stated.

This call, according to the governor, became imperative following the Supreme Court judgment which upheld his electoral victory.

Analysing the implication of the Supreme Court verdict, governor Ahmed Aliyu said,  “2023 is done and dusted as it is all over. Now let’s get ready for 2027 as it’s no longer far from now””.

The governor who spoke during a well attended reception organized by the Sokoto people, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and other APC stalwarts after the Supreme Court verdict, dedicated the victory to Almighty Allah, Senator Wamakko and the people of the state.

Addressing amammoth crowd which gathered at the  residence of Senator Wamakko in honour, the governor said he was surprised that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenged his victory at the courts despite the fact that Sokoto people voted massively for the APC.

He said: “Recall that, after the general election in 2023, the opposition PDP, dissatisfied with the outcome approached the governorship election petition tribunal where our victory, which is the victory of the people, was upheld.

“Still not comfortable with that decision, the PDP approached the Appeal Court and same judgment was upheld.

“The PDP in the quest to excersie all available legal dimensions, went to the Supreme Court which is the last resort, and yet God confirmed our victory as you willingly gave us your mandate in the 2023 polls”.

While congratulating the lawyers who defended his victory at the Tribunal, the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court, Governor Aliyu lauded the Supreme Court Justices for upholding the truth.

At the event, Senator Wamakko said he lacked worlds to thank the people of the state for their continued confidence in the APC.

He also assured that Governor Aliyu would not disappoint the state, adding that they can begin to judge from the giant developmental projects completed and ongoing across the state.
