Sokoto Governor Signs 2025 Budget Into Law

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, at the weekend, signed the 2025 appropriation budget of N526 billion into law, saying, his government has made very judicious use of the 2024 budget.

The governor, who rated the 2024 budget implementation at 90 per cent success, added that he hadbeen able to meet some of his campaign 9-Point innovative smart agenda. 

‘Governor Aliyu said: ”I am happy to confirm to you that the 2024 budget, was a success story, as we have achieved over 90% success as we have succeeded in meeting some of our 9 point innovative smart agenda which entails supporting security, religious affairs, youth empowerment, water supply, education, environment, Agriculture as well as

urban renewal initiatives””. 

Continuing, the governor said having led the state for 17 months now, he truly appreciated the numerous contributions of development partners, NGOs, CSOs and other donor agencies as well as the continued prayer by the people of the state.  

Speaking before presenting the budget for signing, the Speaker, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, said as lawmakers they were committed to working together to ensure that the budget truly served the interest of the people. 

While stressing that the 2025 budget has gone through several legislative processes, he added that they were witnessing a transformed state under Governor Aliyu. 

He however noted that they will continue to engage in rigorous oversight and scrutiny of the budget implementation process, to ensure that allocated resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.
