Sokoto PDP Dwindles As Wamakko Receives Defectors Into APC

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has received scores of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) business community in Sokoto to the All Progressives Congress, (APC) a statement from his Special Adviser on media Bashar Abubakar, had disclosed.

According to the statement, the defectors led by the Chairman of the State Traders Association, Alhaji Chika Sarkin Gishiri, said their resolution to join the APC was to help move the state forward. 

Speaking during a mini reception organized for the defectors in the residence of Senator Wamakko,  

their leader, Sarkin Gishiri described the APC-led government in the state as not only people friendly but also develomentally minded. 

“We have come to reaffirm our unflinching support to the current administration of the people-friendly and prolific Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for more tangible developmental strides to be massively recorded in the State. 

“We also want to appreciate the continued support being received from Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko since time immemorial, which was the major reason for the successes of our business activities”.  

Speaking earlier, the former Chairman of Sokoto Traders Association and  current chairman of the State Chamber of Commerce, Alhaji Ladan Almustapha, have their assurances of joining the crusade towards making the state more  economically viable. 

While recalling how the sterling leadership qualities of former governor Wamakko, now senator, endeared him to the electorate, Ladan said the entire state will continue to have confidence and trust in Wamakko at all times. 

Ladan also applauded Senator Wamakko for being behind the multiple  projects so far executed by the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration just within two years in office.

Responding to the defectors, the visibly elated Senator Wamakko and leader of APC in Sokoto described the moment as a welcome development, just as he assured all of equal treatment. 

“As leaders, there is no reason not to carry all the traders along. And now that they have agreed to work together with the current  administration in the state, the government will soon come to the immediate rescue of the entire traders in the state by completing the ongoing renovation of the burnt Sokoto Central Market”, Wamakko assured.

Wamakko also  assured the state  traders of  governments’ plan to provide huge financial support to boost their businesses which will in turn enhance economic growth of Sokoto state. 

Speaking on the disturbing lingering water scarcity in Sokoto, Senator Wamakko said it will soon be a thing of the past, adding however that people kept quiet when water pipes meant to supply water to them were sold off by thee immediate past PDP-led administration. 

“More developmental strides would be witnessed under the leadership of Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto so as to make the state at par with its contemporaries or even surpass them”.
