Victims of recent violence in communities of Dalle and Kariyo, Godogodo chiefdom and Asso and Tanda,Gwong chiefdom ,all in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State ,have received relief materials from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA ).
Distributing the items at the Secretariat of the local government on Thursday, the Overseer of the Area, Mr.Leo Shekari, appreciated the kind gesture of the Kaduna State Government and SEMA for coming to the aid of the victims, adding that it will cushion the hardship they were experiencing after losing their property to depend on goodwill from relatives and friends.
The overseer told the people of Jema’a local government that peace reigns only when they have resolved on their own to repent of past misdeeds, forgive offenders and make deliberate and concerted efforts to coexist peacefully, without any discrimination.
“God created us without forcing us into one tribe or religion, therefore our strength ,unity and progress lye in our diversity “,the overseer noted.
Reflecting on the mood of Easter , the overseer used the occasion to congratulate Christians for successful Lent prayers and fasting, and urged people of the area and Nigerians in general, particularly Christians to soberly reflect and resolve in the spirit of love, truth, peace ,forgiveness and care for the needy in the society ,making it a lifestyle as taught and practised by Christ Jesus, the Saviour of the world.
The SEMA relief materials distributed were bags of rice, maize, beans, cartons of noodles and Jerry cans of palm and groundnut oil .
Beneficiaries of the items appreciated government and all those who gave them assistance and pledged to spread the messages of peace and tolerance in their communities.
