SSUCOEN Gidan Waya Gets New Executives

Sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the Executive members, the Senior Staff Union Colleges of Education of Nigeria (SSUCOEN), Gidan Waya chapter has elected new officials to run the affairs of the union for the next four years.
The election, which was held at the premises of the institution, Gidan Waya on Wednesday was keenly contested and orderly conducted.
Those elected and subsequently sworn-in include Mr. Sani Sunday-Chairman, Malam Yusuf Adamu; Mai Sudan, vice chairman; Mr. David Thomas Yashim, Secretary; Mr. Gloria Samuel Gimbason, Treasurer; and Mr. Yusuf Tah Ngoh-Financial Secretary.
Speaking at their swearing-in ceremony, the acting National president of the union, Comrade Danlami Ali, expressed satisfaction with the exemplary conduct of the polls, describing it as commendable
Aliu urged members to support and cooperate with the new officials to ensure for meaningful development of the college.
He said the Union at the National level had prevailed on the Federal Government to approve the 65-years retirement age for staff of colleges of education nationwide and called on them to work hard to reciprocate the gesture.
Addressing members of the union earlier before the Commencement of the Election, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Ishaya Akungba and Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the college charged them to exhibit maturity to make the exercise credible and peaceful.
Akungba told them to vote any candidate of their choice and resist the temptation of under mining the process.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Mr. Sani Sunday, promised to carry all members along in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The new executive members have since been sworn-in.
