A pro-democracy organisation, Democracy for Africa Programme, has called on the newly sworn-in Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, to stop chasing shadows and as a matter of urgency settle down to the serious business of governance and deliver dividends of democracy to the Osun people.
In a statement reacting to certain political developments in Osun since Adeleke’s assumption of office signed by the group’s Country Director, Dr. Benedict Bem Kokoiwen, the pro-democracy organization stated: “Leadership in any democracy is about the people and therefore the governor must work hard to galvanize support and earn the trust and confidence of his people while also ensuring that no individual or group is victimized or intimidated on account of his or her political affiliation or view on the issues in the state”.

Dr. Kokoiwen enjoined the Osun people, particularly politicians and political office holders, to close ranks and support the governor to deliver on his campaign promises to them.
He urged Governor Adeleke on his part to realize that power is a public trust held on behalf of the people and therefore he must put the interest and feelings of the people above partisan politics, personal ambitions and other considerations.
