Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, has warned appointed and elected officials to stop playing politics with issues that affects the lives of the people in the state.
Bello who spoke at Badeggi during the inspection of Hajiya Mumbai Aliyu Maternal and Child Health center frowned at the state of the healthcare center and lack of facilities in the centre. stating that government have made available resources for these facilities but people are playing politics in the distribution.
He lamented the situation where drugs are stored in stores in the state capital leaving local government areas without drugs to distribute to the people.
“How can you have drugs in the store wasting away? Open the stores and give health care centres the drugs they need. Bring out the mattresses and beds let the people use it. Why do you keep them? What do you want to do with it? I want it released. Stop playing politics with everything.”
The governor then directed the commissioner of health to ensure that the health facility is reorganized and all needed facilities put in proper perspective, “you have to reorganize yourself. This does not look like a health facility. I want this place worked up.”
Commissioner of Health, Dr. Mustapha Jibril explained to the governor that the drugs, beds and mattresses were under the care of the SDGs who want to do the distribution by themselves while the governor told him to get his acts together and take charge as they are under his ministry.
