President Bola Tinubu has ordered Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to provide a report detailing the financial impact of implementing a new minimum wage which would be above N60,000 as the federal government has now committed to pay following a 2-day strike by Organised Labour.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday, indicated that the President engaged in discussions with federal government representatives regarding negotiations on the minimum wage with labor during a press briefing.

Edun is expected to come up with multiple templates of the assessment based on projected minimum wage thresholds above N60,000.

Organised Labour gave the government one week to improve on its N60,000 new minimum wage offer, failing which Labour says it will resume its indefinite strike called off on Tuesday 4 June, 2024.
