A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and grassroots mobiliser in Nigeria’s most populated local government – Alimosho Local Council, Lagos State – Engr. Olayinka Obimakinde, has advised the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party to re-engineer the PDP structures nationwide, with a view to rebranding the party for victory in the 2019 General Election.
Engr. Obimakinde, who spoke in Abuja shortly after the Supreme Court judgment which restored the leadership of the PDP to Senator Makarfi, urged the party leaders to be magnanimous in victory and reconcile all aggrieved party faithful so that the PDP can return to winning ways in 2019.
He said: “I urge Senator Makarfi to strengthen the PDP grassroots structures by setting up reconciliation committees nationwide. Our party leaders should now employ a wholistic approach to bringing back those who left the PDP during the leadership crisis and extent the Olive Branch to them all.
“For us in Alimosho PDP, we are solidly behind Senator Makarfi and we are working hard to make the party come out victorious in the upcoming local government election in Lagos State. The PDP Leader in Alimosho, Dr. Adegbola Dominic, the LGA Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Shodiya alongside myself are working hard for the party’s victory in council election.
“By the Grace of God, the upcoming National Convention of the party will produce selfless and credible National Executives for the PDP who will lead us to victory at all levels of government come 2019.”
Engr. Obimakinde, who is the Group Managing Director, Sykaphia Group of Companies, charged all “PDP faithful who were steadfast during the crisis period and those who moved to other seemingly alternative platforms to return to the umbrella to ensure victory for PDP come 2019 as one, united family under God. Long Live PDP, long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
