Tinubu Is President-Elect, INEC Declares

Presidential Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been declared winner of the 2023 Presidential Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

Chairman, INEC, Prof. Mahood Yakubu, made the declaration on Wednesday 1March, 2023 at the INEC Situation Room and National Collation Centre, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

The collation lasted three days.

Announcing the final results at about 4.10am on Wednesday, Prof. Yakubu said Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to beat into second place Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who received 6,984,520 votes.

Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) came third in the keenly contested election with a vote score of 6,101,533.

Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) bagged 1,496,687 votes to place fourth in the presidential poll.

 24,965,218 Nigerians cast their votes in the election, with 24,025,940 deemed valid votes in the poll.

Tinubu is scheduled to receive his certificate of return as the President-Elect today Wednesday 1March, 2023 at the ICC, Abuja at 3pm, according to Prof. Yakubu.
