A commercial motorcyclist and his female passenger were crushed to death by a tipper lorry yesterday afternoon along Yakubu Wanka Express way in Bauchi metropolis.
According to an eyewitness, the lorry, which was coming from the opposite direction of the road rammed into the victims due to a break failure.
The source said: “The driver of the tipper lorry lost control as a result of a break failure and crushed the motorcycle rider and his female passenger. The female passenger died on the spot while the okada rider intestines spilled on the ground by the impact of the crash”
Confirming the incident, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Ibrahim Abubakar, said the accident was caused by break failure by the driver of the tipper lorry who tried desperately to salvage the situation, but was unable to control the vehicle.
Ibrahim said that the female passenger died on the spot while the commercial motorcyclist was conveyed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi for medical attention, where he later died.
