A university lecturer, Dr. Abdulwahab Issa, has stressed the need for the reorientation of citizens on theNigerian value system to move the nation forward .
Issa, who is the Acting Head of Departmen, Library and Information
Science, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences, University of Ilorin made the call during a chat with newsmen in Ilorin.
He urged the political leaders and elites to go back to the community and get their bearings right on socio- economic development of the country.
He noted that the society right from the home front had been seriously polluted.
The don also called for a total overall of the nation’s constitution so that it could address the present challenges confronting the nation.
Issa added that as moulders of the society, the academia, have a great role to play in this direction by not only imparting on the students academically but moulding them to become future leaders.
He described the present day library set up as mere collection of irrelevant, outdated and obsolete books, especially with the advent of Information Technology.
Issa appealed to all tiers of government to embark on long-term planning to improve the country’s educational values.
He lamented that many parents and guardians have abandoned their responsibilities of taking proper care of their children and wards.
