A 51-year-old Vice Principal has impregnated a 16-year-old JS 111 student and allegedly had sexual affairs with 6 other female students in Day Secondary School Gidan Kwanu, Tunga-Minna in Niger State.
Director-General, Niger State Child Right Agency, Barrister Mairam Haruna Kolo, made the disclosure during an interview in her office in Minna .
She added that the suspect, identified as Mohammed Mohammed, lured the victim into his office and has sex with her.
Kolo, who expressed dismay over the matter, however noted that the present administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello would not accept such gross violation and abuse of children in the state, hence the decision to handover the accused to the police criminal investigation department for proper interrogation and prosecution.
She also disclosed that the same vice principal was alleged to have had affairs with other female students who were ready to confess before the security agency,He also allegedly gave a drug to the girl so as to abort the two-month-old pregnancy.
The victim names (withheld) in an interview said that the suspect is a family friend who always invited her to his office and asked after her parents but that day had sex with her in his office. She said he used to give her N100 or N200 as transport fare back home from N100 and N200.
She disclosed that the vice principal had sex with her at least three times and always in his office. She said she had her first sexual encounter with one Uncle Usman in JS II, adding that it was the school Christian fellowship that reported to the agency having discovered that she was pregnant.
In an interview the suspect, Mohammed Mohammed, who first declined to discuss the processes that led to the sex scandal however pleaded guilty to the offence and promised to take good care of the victim in both her health and education as well as marry her.
Mohammed denied having affairs with any other female students in the school but admitted to having affairs with the victim in his office which he said was during the resumption weeks.
“I don’t know what came over me that day and I did it,” he said, and charged other teachers to learn a lesson from his predicament especially those who are doing same to other female students in their care.
Investigation on Thursday showed that the vice principal was released on bail and reported in the school while the students ganged up to harass him. He was then rearrested by security agents in the state capital to ensure peace in the school.
