Wamakko Mourns Sokoto Boat Accident Victims

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has expressed his condolences to the families of the 28 persons who died after their boat capsized on Dundaye river, Wamakko local government of Sokoto state.

Wamakko, who described the tragic incident as heartbreaking, urged the victims’ family members to take solace in the Almighty God who gives and takes life. 

A statement by the senator’s spokesperson, Bashar Abubakar, stated that there was the need for extra caution while using the river especially that it has now overflowed its banks because of heavy downpours. 

While praying for speedy recovery for those rescued alive injured in the boat mishap, Senator Wamakko also called for prayers for those who died in the accident.

The wooden canoe was said to have been overloaded with people en route to their farms last Sunday morning when the canoe suddenly  capsized in the middle of the river, resulting in the deaths recorded.
