The 25 lawmakers of Adamawa State on Monday refuted claims that they were plotting the impeachment of Governor Jibrilla Bindow.
Speaker of the House, Kabiru Mijinyawa, who presided over the House plenary, said they were not planning any impeaching plot against the governor, stressing that past impeachments had caused serious underdevelopment in the state.
Some of the lawmakers who spoke during the plenary said the claims were aimed at causing confusion and disharmony in the state and urged the media to crosscheck their facts always before going to the press in order not to feed the public with wrong information.
In a chat with reporters shortly after the House sitting, the Chief Whiff of the House and member representing Hong Constituency, Hassan Barguma said Assembly not contemplating any impeachment plot against the governor, stressing that such exercise had proven counterproductive in the past.
On the issue of the various cash approvals granted the executive, Barguma noted that all the approvals followed due process of the law.
During the plenary sitting, the House also approved a loan of N900 million from Zenith Bank for the executive, which would be used to pay the state’s counterpart funding for Universal Basic Education.
