Workers, Pensioners Must Present BVN Before Payment, Says Akwa Ibom

Bank Verification Number (BVN) will be one of the inevitable documents to be presented by workers and pensioners before they are paid in Akwa Ibom State.
This was one of the resolutions taken by the State Executive Council in its quarterly meeting.
Shedding more light on the issue, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, said “all eligible pensioners are required to submit their BVN in their respective local government Sub Treasury offices, latest October 25 to guarantee payment of their entitlements.
Umanah said Council took the decision in cognizance of the fact that the BVN registration exercise was to end in October 30, 2015, hence the need to have all pensioners registered before the deadline, in order to avoid untoward consequences .
The Council also directed that the Ministry of Youth and Sports to ensure that a good number of corps members serving in the state are posted to schools across the state for proper utilization and effective integration with the people.
In acknowledging the provision of computers to 43 schools across the state, the council directed the Ministry of Education to develop new strategies that would encourage reading and promote culture among the people.
At the meeting, every Ministry made presentations on achievements so far recorded as well as set target for the next quarter.
The Governor-in-Council used the occasion to commend the executive members for their contribution of ideas and opinions, resulting in good policy formulation which when implemented will raise the state to the next level.
He further tasked council members to engage in strategic thinking and creativity for optimal success in their assigned responsibilities.
At the meeting, every Ministry made presentations on achievements so far recorded as well as set target for the next quarter.
