Niger State government has said that it will continue to give priority attention to youth empowerment and promotion of social security.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said this during the commemoration of this year’s International Youth Day held at Abdulsalami Youth Centre, Minna.
The governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Shehu Umar Danyaya, assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that youth are profitably engaged in productive ventures for the well-being of the society.
Sani Bello enjoined relevant stakeholders to pull their resources together with a view to complimenting government’s efforts towards making youth to be job creators rather than job seekers.
He then warned youth to desist from engaging in cultism, examination malpractices and other social vices and imbibe the culture of acquiring education which is the bedrock of any meaningful development.
According to the governor, education is the foundation for human development any society that ignores the education of its youth is at its own peril.
In her welcome remarks, Arch. Ramatu Suleman, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Youth Development, revealed that this year’s International Youth Day was aimed at promoting social, political and economic inclusion of the youth to enable them achieve their aspiration and goals as well as contribute positively to the development of their societies.
In their separate remarks, guest speakers at the occasion enjoined leaders to look inward and embark on positive programmes that will promote youth and women empowerment.
