 
Founder/Proprietor, International Sports Institute Education Trust GTE, Prof. Oluwaseun Omotayo, has commended the Nigeria Armed Forces under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, for using sports as a special purpose vehicle to build capacity, enhancing combat readiness, and developing the Armed Forces.
According to Prof. Omotayo, “this innovation and leadership approach is highly commendable as the approach shall promote Sports-for- Development within the military which shall not only improve the physical and mental well-being of personnel but also foster teamwork, discipline, and esprit de corps.”
Omotayo of the “Damman Miracle” fame said this while responding to reporters seeking his view on the powerful and quality representation of Lt. Col. Timipre Okou of the Nigeria Armed Forces sent to the World Beach Wrestling Series and Africa Age-group Beach Wrestling Championship in Casablanca Morocco.
Prof. Omotayo recalled that the Chief of Defence Staff Sports- for-Development effort was also demonstrated when he facilitated the 2nd Africa Military Games held in Nigeria, among other Sports Development initiatives.
“Leveraging sports as a tool for enhancing physical and mental wellbeing for military combat preparedness is highly commendable,” Omotayo said, adding that he is “confident that the efforts will yield significant benefits for the Armed Forces of Nigeria particularly at this time that the Nigeria Armed forces is combating terrorism and banditry across Nigeria and in the ECOWAS region”.
The Professor of Sports Psychology concluded that he looked “forward to seeing the continued growth and success of sports development initiatives within the Armed Forces under the watch of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, whereby promoting the long-tested saying men sana corpore sano.”
